Today in class we talked about culture. Culture depends a lot on where you live. For instance, if you live in Wisconsin your culture will consist of beer, cheese, and hunting rather than New York where your culture might consist of fancy dining, fancy clothes, and visits to the Statue of Liberty. We don’t think about how different our cultures are compared to everyone but if you’d pay attention it is very different from person to person. A girl in the class also had talked about how different Minnesota is from Wisconsin and they’re right next to each other. She had said that Wisconsin college students are a lot different from Minnesota college students, Wisconsin students tend to drink and party a lot more often.
We also had touched on subcultures, which is a culture inside a larger culture. Examples of these would be people with religious groups or just having different interests. Another subculture could be language. Many people speak different languages. During this part of the lecture, we watched a coke commercial where they had 7 different women sing a part of America the Beautiful each in a different language. There were some posts about the commercial that was just terrible. People said that they would never buy coke products again because the commercial that they made was not “American.” The fact that people in this world have the courage to be so self-centered is ridiculous.
I liked this picture because it shows that we all need to learn to the world together to make the world go around. Too many people disagree on things that need to happen in life to make a better life for all, but they fight it because they don’t want other cultures to have a part in America.
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGrVhM_Gi8k People think culture is different things like Quinceanera's or 16th birthday parties are all culture but really it depends on what your culture is. This video explains the different cultures and between different ethnic groups.
I could help society by supporting other cultures and not just my own.
I could hurt my society by not helping people to understand that different people have different cultures.
Society could help me by understanding any cultural things I may have.
Society could hurt me by not letting me have or do the cultural things I enjoy doing such as family Christmas.

Today in class we talked about how the whole world becomes your book in life. You start as a young child first born seeing the world for the first time, everything is new to you. You continue to grow throughout the ages of your life and learn something new almost every day. You learn how to talk, how to act, how to do everything you are able to do now in your life. How you grow in your life all depends on the culture you grow up in. Different cultures have ways of doing everything they do. We watched a video on Mongolians and they have toilets that are in the ground that people squat over just because that is the way they have always done it. To them it isn’t weird for people to see children squatting down in public to pee in random places, this is just how they were raised in their culture. As part of culture, we think these are weird ways of doing things. We weren't raised in that culture so we find it odd. In the united states, or even just Wisconsin for that matter we are lear...
9/28/18   Today in class we talked about Erikson, Piaget, and Kohlberg’s theories on aging for humans. The three people have different theories on the stages of development in life. Erik so n believes you never stop developing. He has 7 different stages unlike Kohlberg having three and  P iaget who believes  you ' re  done after about age 12. In my opin i on, I believe that Erikson ' s stages make more sense. I think you truly don’t ever stop dev elo ping because throughout your life you are supposed to make dec i sions whether those d eci sions include your career, your children's car e er, or even if you are going to have children or not.  Even when you think your life is done and you can just sit back  and  relax you  can't  because you still have duties like paying bills and things like that or family to watch grow up or raise them. They also say your brain doesn’t even  develop  till the ages of about 21-25. This is crazy...
10/2/18   In class today, students went in front of the class and shared their life map projects to explain their life. They also told us about the theories that they applied to their life map stops.  We learned about the important parts in some of the students in the  class's  lives. Many had said that their birth, some birthdays, and schooling were important parts of their lives. Some had vacations on their life map as well. In my life map my 10 important stops were my birth, my sister being born, family  vacation  to  Florida , my  parents'  divorce, moving into a new house, new school, I broke some bones, 16 th  birthday, 18 th  birthday, graduation, and starting college.    We talked about how in different school stages, such as college and high school, there are different ways of learning in class and how we need to figure some things out on our own at some points in our life.    We also watch...
